The aim of Vital@2040 is to increase physical activity among groups of children with lower physical activity rates, by contributing to the development and evaluation of interventions. First, Vital@2040 examined parental, professional and policy maker hindering and supporting influences on facilitating club-organized sports participation for children, including on acquiring financial support for children’s sports participation. The study was completed in April 2022. Second, Vital@2040 build Living Labs with local stakeholders in order to develop and evaluate interventions. The aforementioned study serves a starting point for intervention development and opportunities for collaborations.
This closed data package includes the raw interview data of 27 professional and 9 policy makers. Furthermore, this closed data package includeds their informed consent forms, which are the legal basis for the data processing.
The data was used for two studies. The first study aimed to understand how parents and involved professionals experience organizing financial support for club-organized sports participation by children aged 4–18 years from low-income families. This qualitative study is based on semi-structured interviews with 24 parents who successfully applied for financial support and 27 involved professionals. The second, qualitative mixed-methods study is based on policy analysis and interviews with parents, professionals and policy makers in two cities in the Netherlands (Eindhoven and Utrecht). The aim of this study was to understand whether and how municipal policy makers scrutinize their assumptions on the experiences of parents from low-income families with organizing financial support for club-organized sports participation by their children.
