Here are all publicly accessible data for the study "The Tolerance Principle and the Orthographic-Phonological Mapping of Chinese Characters." The study is about the applicability of the Tolerance Principle, a computational principle for linguistic generalization, to the orthographic-phonological mapping of Chinese phono-semantic compounds, a type of character composed of both phonetic and semantic radicals. More specifically, this study investigates whether the association between phonetic radical and pronunciation is constrained by the Tolerance Principle. To this end, two experiments were designed and conducted. The resulting data are stored on Yoda. In this data package, you can find all publicly accessible data for both experiments. More detailed information about each folder and subfolder can be found in readme files. The sample size of the first experiment with Chinese readers is 28, while the sample size of the second experiment with Hindustani speakers is 22.
